How do you feel during this time of lockdown; how do you think this period will affect your art-making process or does it already have an impact on your productions?
How should I feel? They have spread the fear of death, imprisoned us in loneliness. We have been disconnected from human relations and restrained due to our age. A hegemony of ignorance is dominating us. At first, I began drawing based on some news reports but as the days pass, everything becomes meaningless in a world without human beings. Art loses its significance without human; even online content sharing seems pointless. I turned to my inner self and I’m mostly busy with myself. Art will somehow continue to exist in the future; without art the human spirit would lose much of its ability to communicate.

Do you keep producing works during this time? If yes, how do you produce under the changing conditions, do the materials you use differ?
I’m drawing to keep myself busy, but I can’t really call it a creative process. It is more a way of drawing sketches in a note-taking style.

What are you dreaming of doing following COVID-19?
First, I want to unite with the eyes of my loved ones, the warmth of my friends and with nature. In other words, human comes first.

Are there any differences between your plans before and after COVID-19?
Of course there are. How could our art not be affected by this unprecedented phenomenon that has come over us?

What changes occurred in your daily routine?
My daily routines changed, my productivity dropped, many things became meaningless. Like prisoners awaiting amnesty, I look forward to my release.

Karantina döneminde nasıl hissediyorsunuz; bu süreç üretimlerinize nasıl yansıdı ya da yansıyacak?
Nasıl hissedeyim? Ölüm korkusunu ayaklarımızın altına serdiler, yalnızlığa hapis ol dediler, insan ilişkilerinden koparıldık. Bir de koca koca adamlar, yaşımıza hapsettiler bizi. Bu süreçte üretmeye devam ediyor musunuz? Evet ise değişen şartlar altında üretim şekliniz, kullandığınız malzemeler farklılık gösteriyor mu?
Üretiyorum diyemem, bir şeyler çiziyorum boş durmamak için. Daha çok not düşer gibi kağıtları karalıyorum.

Bu süreç bitimindeki hayalleriniz neler?
Önce sevdiklerimin gözlerine, dostlarımın sıcaklığına ve doğaya koşmak istiyorum. Yani önce insan.

COVID-19 öncesindeki planlarınız ile sonrası arasında farklılık var mı?
Var tabii ki! Böylesine bir olgu üzerimizden geçerde sanatımız bundan etkilenmez olur mu?

Günlük rutinlerinizde ne gibi değişiklikler oldu?
Günlük rutinlerim değişti, üretimim düştü, birçok şey anlamsızlaştı. Af bekleyen mahkumlar gibi tahliyemi dört gözle bekliyorum.

As an artist, how would you describe the current situation of the world?
I think that people should review their relationship with each other and with nature. They should care more about trees, birds and loved ones rather than consumption.

Has the current isolation given you the opportunity to do or create something that you haven’t had a chance before?
I have returned to reading more books. I’m trying to nourish and freshen up my artistic knowledge. And I even managed to teach myself how to browse museums on the Internet.

Unfortunately, your works cannot be seen physically in this period of time. Can you tell us about your new works conceptually?
I prefer to show my works visually rather than putting them into words. I’ll unveil some of my recent works online mainly on my social media platform.

Sanatçı gözünden dünyanın içinde bulunduğu durumu nasıl yorumlarsınız?
Herkesin insanlar ve doğayla olan ilişkilerini gözden geçirmesi; ağacına, kurduna, kuşuna, sevdiklerine kol kanat germesi gerektiğini düşünüyorum, tüketime değil.

Sosyal izolasyon süreci, size yapmak istediğiniz ama zamansızlıktan dolayı yapamadığınız bir iş, üretim için zaman sağladı mı?
Biraz daha kitaplara döndüm; sanatsal dünyamdaki noksanlıkları beslemeye çalışıyorum. İnternette müzeleri dolaşmayı kendime öğretmeyi başardım.

Bu süreçte eserleriniz maalesef somut olarak görülemeyecek, bu nedenle çalışmalarınızdan kavramsal ve biçimsel olarak bahsedebilir misiniz?
Bahsetmeyeyim. Yaptığım bir iki işi internette paylaşayım ki eserlerimi sözlerle değil görsellerle anlatmış olayım.
