As part of the “Düsseldorf Cologne Open Galleries” (DC Open), Anna Laudel Düsseldorf will present one of its highlights of the year 2024 which is „You and Me“ by Ardan Özmenoglu. The exhibition can be visited from August 30th to November 9th, 2024.

The Düsseldorf Cologne Open Galleries (DC Open) celebrates its sixteenth edition this year in September, featuring highlights from fifty different galleries located in both cities, known for their multifaceted and vibrant art scene. One of the galleries chosen to participate is Anna Laudel Düsseldorf. Marking the start of the autumn art season, this event is organised by the established galleries in Düsseldorf and Cologne, creating a cultural hub for contemporary art in that region and encouraging an exchange between the two eclectic cities.

„You and Me“ offers viewers the unique opportunity to explore the multi-layered and dialogue-based world of Ardan Özmenoglu’s art, which is key to her understanding and perspective on interpersonal relationships.
Özmenoglu’s body of work is characterised by a humorous yet at the same time deeply meaningful style, which subtly tackles complex questions about our modern coexistence. Using everyday, common materials, Özmenoglu creates an immediate closeness and familiarity. The connotation to everyday life in her works functions as a bridge that connects the audience with the multi-layered themes of her art, such as historical events and contemporary society.
Immersed in isolation in her neon glass studio, or wood workshop, she captures the essence of the outside world, emerging only when her vision is fully realized. The artist’s secluded and intense approach allows her to deeply absorb and creatively reinterpret external influences in her work.
This unique perspective on the interplay between artwork and viewer is a highlight of this year’s DC Open. Ardan Özmenoglu’s second solo exhibition in Düsseldorf „You and Me“ offers a compelling exploration of human relationships and daily life. The exhibition may be visited from August 30th to November 9th, 2024.
