Anna Laudel Istanbul is pleased to present Lennart Brede‘s solo exhibition “ANGELS FALL – Where From Where To” from September 20 to November 10, 2024. Brede’s work invites viewers to explore how visual language can be used to explore the body in space as a metaphor for individuals’ relationships to their surroundings.

Brede delves into the intricate relationships between identity, environment, and legacy, posing pivotal questions: Where do we come from? Where do we go? Drawing from personal experiences and his northern German upbringing, Brede examines these themes through photography, film installations, sculptures, and the unexpected yet impactful use of a carpet as a medium.

These carefully chosen carpets add a distinct layer to the exhibition, symbolizing grounding and heritage while blending historical tradition with contemporary narrative. The photographs, featuring athletes in their environments present an aesthetic that challenges the boundaries of the human body and its interaction with its surroundings. “ANGELS FALL – Where From Where To” invites viewers to reflect on their connection to the earth beneath them, confronting the legacies and responsibilities we carry as individuals and as a society. This exhibition serves both as an artistic exploration as well as a social experiment, encouraging the tracing of our ancestry and individual heritage to better understand what choices await us on future paths.

Lennart Brede’s exhibition “ANGELS FALL – Where From Where To” can be seen at Anna Laudel Istanbul from September 20 to November 10, 2024.
