Anna Laudel Istanbul proudly presents “Pressure Point“, a captivating group exhibition that invites viewers to reconsider the art and essence of printmaking. From January 23 to March 2, 2025, the exhibition will showcase the works of 11 artists, whose creative practices span a variety of techniques and conceptual approaches.

At its heart, “Pressure Point” seeks to remind us of the enduring value and transformative power of printmaking. The exhibition features a compelling selection of works by Şerife Şen Akkaş, Ozan Bilginer, Ramazan Can, María Chillón, Emre Çalış, Sabine Delahaut, Engin Esen, Doğu Gündoğdu, Fırat Güner, Aslı Işıksal, and Jean-Michel Uyttersprot, reflecting their innovative exploration of the medium.

In a time when our interaction with images has reached an unprecedented intensity, “Pressure Point” offers an oasis of calm, depth, and labor-intensive artistry. The exhibition draws attention to the organic bonds inherent in craftsmanship, inviting viewers to experience a renewed appreciation for the tactile and the deliberate.

Inspired by printmaking’s rich tradition of specialized techniques, materials, and tactile labor, “Pressure Point” highlights the experimental processes that define the medium. Rather than striving for flawless imagery, the artists illuminate the beauty of creation itself—the physical effort, the intimate dialogue with materials, and the unfolding journey of time. These elements bring forward the story of how each image came to be, rather than simply showcasing the image itself.

Rethinking Printmaking

The exhibition embraces divergence, presenting contrasting techniques and conceptual frameworks as opportunities for dialogue. “Pressure Point” invites viewers to see discord not as conflict but as a fresh lens through which to experience and rethink visual art.
In his Diseditioned series, which includes works specifically created for the exhibition, Engin Esen deconstructs prints into fragments and then reassembles them to mimic the pattern of white noise. Drawing from this analogy, the artist recreates the polyphonic and anonymous nature of noise within the concept of “multiplicitous singularity” inherent in edition culture.

The exhibition “Pressure Point” initiates a dialogue against the hyper-dense aesthetic approach shaped by digitalization, highlighting the mechanical and process-oriented aspects of printmaking. Visitors can experience the exhibition at Anna Laudel Istanbul between January 23 and March 2, 2025.
